Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Uganda, the economic and trade relations and economic and technological cooperation between the two countries have progressed smoothly. The trade volume between the two countries has increased from several hundred thousand US dollars to several hundred million US dollars today, and the trade structure has also been continuously optimized. The trade relations between the two countries have made obvious breakthroughs.
With the gradual increase in investment, China has become the main source of foreign investment in Uganda. According to the requirements of the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS), the Ugandan Pre Export Verification of Conformity (PVoC) assessment plan is mandatory for products imported into Uganda. When products arrive in Uganda, they must be accompanied by a product conformity certificate, namely CoC (Certificate of Conformity), To prove that the goods comply with relevant technical regulations and standards in Uganda, they can be successfully cleared at local customs.
PVoC is a conformity assessment procedure based on Article 5 of the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (WTO/TBT) Agreement. It mainly evaluates exporters/manufacturers' declarations that their goods comply with agreed requirements, including production process audits, regulatory compliance checks, general inspections and tests, to ensure that specific goods comply with relevant Ugandan mandatory regulations or any other approved international standards.
